SmartEyes respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the app processes, how it is used, and what stays on your device. SmartEyes is designed as a visual assistance tool for blind and low-vision users; it is not a replacement for a cane, guide dog, or professional safety advice.
SmartEyes uses the device camera and microphone to provide visual assistance and voice-based interaction. Camera and microphone data are processed to deliver app features such as scene description, text reading, barcode lookup, navigation assistance, and face recognition (in Advanced Mode).
Some features send images or text to cloud AI services only when you request them (for example, when you ask the app to describe what is in front of you). Face matching for people you save is performed on your device and is not sent to cloud providers for identification.
When you use face recognition in Advanced Mode (with an active Smart Eyes Pro subscription, trial, or eligible promotional access), the app may:

Face data stays on your device. We do not upload saved face profiles or face embeddings to our servers. Face recognition is not available in Basic Mode.
You may remove a saved person by voice command or by uninstalling the app, which deletes locally stored app data including saved face profiles.
Speech input is used to understand your commands and questions. Audio may be processed on-device and/or through Apple’s speech recognition services, depending on your device and settings.
Location data is used only when you activate the Emergency Assist feature. SmartEyes does not track your location in the background for other features.
If you select a contact for Emergency Assist, only the phone number you choose is stored locally on your device.
Paid features are managed through Apple In-App Purchase (StoreKit). Apple processes payment information directly.
SmartEyes does not sell your personal data. We do not share saved face profiles or face embeddings with third parties.
SmartEyes does not operate a central user account database. The following may be stored locally on your device:
Uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data, subject to how iOS manages app storage.
SmartEyes is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Network connections use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS) where applicable. Saved face profiles use encrypted local storage on supported devices.
We may update this Privacy Policy when app functionality or legal requirements change. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
